Most members are aware that Jerry (WA3CVB) has been working to get the former Captain of the USS Cole (Commander Kirk Lippold_ to attend our weekly breakfast and give a presentation on what happened during the bombing. The USS Cole bombing was a suicide bombing attack against the U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67) on October 12, 2000 while it was harbored in the Yemeni port of Aden. Seventeen sailors were killed.

Commander Lippold was the Captain the day the bombing took place. It is my understanding that he travels around the world teaching others what action they took, what worked and did not work for the Navy. This is one event that you do not want to miss. The room will fill up quickly so you may want to get your seat early. The club has requested the restaurant hold the meeting room for our club because we expect a large turn out. Of course, if we are not able to fill the room and the restaurant needs additional space, for their morning customers, they will bleed into our room.

Breakfast will go as usual at 07:00 with the Captain speaking and showing a slide presentation at 08:00. I would like to get a count (NLT April 11, 2008) of how many will attend. This action will help us confirm with the restaurant manager, how many people we expect. Additionally it will help the manager assign enough waiters for this event. Please return an email with your call and how many guests you plan to bring. Indicate if you and your guest plan to attend breakfast or will just be present for the briefing (this will help with the assignment of the wait staff).
