Overview
The Amateur Radio Relay League’s (ARRL) Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES®) in Stafford County and the Stafford County Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) are combined into one Stafford County Emergency Communications (EmComm) team. All other volunteer emergency radio services, such as REACT and SATERN, are encouraged to join us or develop a coordinated relationship with our team.
Stafford's EmComm team serves the Stafford County Emergency Manager, Stafford County Sheriff's Office, 911 Center, and Fire/EMS department. We have a formal appointment by the Chief, Stafford County Emergency Management Division (Gerald "Jazz" jaskulski).
Our EmComm team is a member of ARES® District 4 - Upper Rappahanock. District 4 consists of these counties: Louisa, Rappahannock, Culpeper, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania, Caroline, King George, Stafford, and the City of Fredericksburg. More information about District 4 is available at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VA_ARES_D4/. The Virginia ARES® web site is at http://www.aresva.org/aresva.html.

ARRL Numbered RADIOGRAMS
“Numbered messages have been established for some of the more common texts sent during emergencies and holiday seasons. When this common text can be used, an ARL NUMBER is substituted for the text and sent. The delivering station reads the actual text to the address, not the ARL NUMBER.
“The letters ARL are inserted in the preamble in the check and in the text before spelled out numbers, which represent texts from this list. Note that some ARL texts include and in the text before spelled out numbers, which represent texts from this list. Note that some ARL texts include insertion of numerals or words.” Please click on the link for more information: http://www.ncarrl.org/nets/number_mesg.html
